But if you expect that only they can save you from the white dust, falling from your scalp, you will be disappointed. The homemade masks should be applied as a complementary care to specialized products for hair and scalp. Otherwise you risk to achieve improvement in one thing, but to negatively affect something else.
Everyone, who suffers from dandruff, knows how persistent this problem is. Fortunately, the modern cosmetic industry offers a variety of products for both effective treatment of the scalp and strengthening hair care. They, namely, have to become your fundamental creed to fight dandruff.
You should use the relevant complementary anti-dandruff care together with the shampoo. But do not hurry with the homemade masks! The conditioner against dandruff, which will nourish the hair and will support the effect of the active ingredients in the shampoo is before them. Only once a week you can make some mix of natural products to accelerate the healing process.
Since there are numerous recipes and products for homemade masks against dandruff, we will present you four of them.
Anti-dandruff mask with oatmeal, almond oil and milk
Oat is a popular remedy for skin problems. It will calm the scalp and will balance its pH. It will moisturize and protect the hair follicles, too. Mix half a cup of oatmeal, 1-2 tablespoons of almond oil and 1/3 cup of milk, stir well and apply on dry hair from root to tip. Leave it for 20 minutes, rinse with cool water and then use the selected anti-dandruff series.
Anti-dandruff mask with honey, cottage cheese and lemon juice
The acids in the lemons have seboregulating effect and shrink the pores. The cottage cheese will support the development of "good bacteria", while honey will neutralize the bad ones and will nourish the hair. If you have dry hair, you can add a few drops of olive oil. Mix the ingredients and apply on the scalp. Leave it for 30 minutes, rinse with cool water and then use the selected anti-dandruff series.
Anti-dandruff mask with yogurt and black pepper
The probiotics in the yogurt will increase the amount of good bacteria on the scalp while black pepper will "kill" the fungus causing dandruff. Powder 2 tablespoons of black pepper and add them to a cup of yogurt. Mix well and apply on the scalp only (not on the hair). Leave it for 1 hour, rinse with lukewarm water and then use the selected anti-dandruff cosmetic line.
Anti-dandruff mask with aspirin
The Salicylic acid in its composition has antifungal and antimicrobial effect and helps the scalp exfoliation. The easiest way to use it is mixing two powdered aspirin tablets with a small amount of your shampoo. Wet your scalp and apply the mask with massaging movements. Leave it for a few minutes and wash well with the selected anti-dandruff series. Another option is to dissolve 3 finely crushed tablets in one tablespoon of apple cider vinegar and apply the mixture on your scalp for 30 minutes.
We remind you that the main rule when choosing a shampoo against dandruff is it to contain ingredients consistent with the needs of the hair itself. Thus, simultaneously with the gentle cleansing, the seboregulating and soothing effect, the formula will improve the hair structure, too.
For thin hair is recommended a formula with collagen, for damaged and exausted - with taurine and caffeine, for oily - with citrus extract and for normal - with maintaining ingredients such as algae, for example. In sensitive scalp, it would be beneficial the formula to include soothing agent like aloe vera or menthol, and in case of hair loss - extract of quinine.
Remember, that the homemade masks for dandruff do not replace the specialized shampoos and conditioners. Even if some of the ingredients overlap, you must continue using anti-dandruff formulas because they contain valuable active complexes, which your hair and scalp can not obtain in any other way.
