What does bad breath deprives us from?
Sometimes, unpleasant breath turns out to be a symptom of a particular disease. When it is chronic, it always and without exception becomes a social problem. Bad breath belongs to the physical imperfections that affect our mentality, leading to insecurity, low self-esteem and even depression. Although insignificant at first glance, this problem could leave lasting disturbances in our communication with the others, the confidence, which we speak with or our self evaluation.
Smells have the ability to evoke emotion and, suspect it or not, they leave their mark on the way we perceive others. Putrid odor creates negative associations and is able to undermine the authority of anyone. We instinctively surround ourselves with people towards who we feel sympathy and respect, so bad breath can really make us a very unwanted company.
Likewise, bad breath reduces our attractiveness to the opposite sex, becoming a mental barrier to finding a mate or creating long-term relationships.
Intimacy. We know that the secret of harmonious relationships is not to allow anything to come between us and our loved ones. But alas, our own breath could be a serious obstacle, creating alienation. Feeling unattractive, we gradually begin to deprive your beloved from intimate caresses. And without the bonding force of hugs and kisses it becomes very difficult to express our affection.
It is in our nature to constantly strive for perfection and the approval of others. And when even one little detail spoils the perfect image living in our heads, our self-esteem decreases dramatically. Sooner or later, the unrealistic expectations and the fear of being rejected begin to hinder us to express ourselves and to communicate freely.
Since words, laughter and smell come out from the same place, bad breath often comes in combination with a straight face, soft voice and reluctance to speak. Moreover, bad breath often causes us to cover our mouth with hand in a closer contact. Troubled verbal communication forces us to seek information about our companion in his or her gestures. And the mistrust evoked by the lack of smile and the concealing gesture with the hand are definitely not in favor of communication.
Devoid of such important things like self-confidence and harmonious relationships, it is almost inevitable to give in to negative emotions. Slowly but surely, unpleasant breath replaces the values in our lives with tension, irritability and sadness.
According to the World Health Organization, nearly 90% of the cases of halitosis (disease associated with chronic bad breath) have their origins in the oral cavity. There is something truly encouraging in this statistic, because it means that the same number of cases can be prevented through good oral hygiene. The comprehensive care for teeth and gums, including the use of toothpaste for lasting fresh breath, is the rescuing solution that keeps up our confidence and all the beauty of communication.
