How to choose the right time for hair dyeing?
If there is an appropriate time for everything in life, then you should think over carefully the time for hair dyeing, too. For best results you must take into consideration the factors that determine the color and its durability. This will save you not only money, but also the negative consequences for your hair, caused by frequent treatment with chemicals. So what is the most (in) appropriate time to dye your hair and why?
The basic rule of hairdressers is dyeing to be done on unclean hair. Water and shampoos clean the scalp and weaken its protective layer, which in turn makes it more vulnerable and sensitive. On the other hand, the sebum is the best "hair mask". It not only assists the absorption of dye’s pigments and nourishing oils (as it keeps hair "open"), but also gives a perfect shine, even in not so rich formulas.
Experts advise to wait as long as possible before the next hair coloring. Otherwise you risk burning your hair and tearing it off from the scalp. The optimum time for naturally dark hair, dyed in dark shades is 2-3 months, and for blond or gray hair - about 1 – 1.5 months.
You must be very careful when discoloring your hair. Discoloration is usually needed in case of drastic changes of the hair color from dark to light. It is recommended to do it gradually with at least 2-3 washes of the hair between the stages. Otherwise the blondor will cause irreparable damage to your hair and will block the further process.
Since there are 10 tones of lightening (i.e. 10 intermediate shades between black and the lightest blonde), the darker your hair is, the more bleaching procedures you’ll need before applying the main color. Some hairdressers make the discoloration suddenly and dye the hair immediately after that to take advantage of the customer, but this is extremely harmful! The hair coloring must be done only at the last stage of the bleaching process and if the hair condition allows it.
Presumably, the summer season is not suitable for dyeing, especially if you’ve decided to move to a darker shade. However quality the selected dye may be, sun, sea water and your habits during the warm months accelerate its wash-out and exhaust the hair. So at the end of the summer your hair needs a coloring again.
In this regard, the autumn-winter period is the perfect time for dyeing. Then, hair looks not only thicker and healthier, but the saturation and shine of the color can be seen from a distance like a beautiful mane.
There is no definite answer to the question whether the monthly cycle influences the hair dyeing. In some women the results are always excellent, no matter when they undergo the procedure. In others, in "those days" the hair dye doesn’t stick. While in the third it occurs sporadically. Hairdressers assume that it is a game of hormones and everything is individual.
You will not go wrong if you comply with the lunar phases when choosing an appropriate time for dyeing. The result is the most complete in a waxing moon (first quarter). When the moon gains strength, the human body absorbs and processes everything more easily. So, the hair dyed at this time, will have more saturated color with a long lasting shine.
