How to soften the skin of the elbows?
It seems that the skin of the elbows often remains neglected and we think of it only when it starts to scratch and hurt or caught our clothes. But we should not forget that it actually protects the joints, muscles and bones, which move our hands and therefore needs just as much attention and care as any other inch of our body.
This will remove the accumulated dead cells and dirt. We advice you to rub with gentle massaging movements a mixture of brown sugar and olive oil or plain coffee grounds on the affected area.
It is advisable to exfoliate your elbows once a week. It is best to do it in the shower, because hot water softens the skin and opens its pores, accelerating the cleaning process.
Glands in the elbows don’t secrete sebum, which is the reason for the rapid drying of these areas.
Make a habit of elbows’ hydration after a bath and before bedtime. Gently wipe your elbows, without rubbing and leave some water to absorb by itself. Apply a hydrating product after a few minutes. The formula will seal the moisture in the pores before it has evaporated completely. Put on a cotton sleeveed clothing to support the penetration of active ingredients into your skin and to avoid any stains on furniture and bed linen.
It is best to use a hand cream, enriched with nourishing and moisturizing ingredients such as aloe vera, vitamins A and E, water lily, jojoba oil, glycerin or vaseline. Melon and cherry extracts are strong antioxidants and support skin regeneration and elasticity, in addition.
Finally, if you want your efforts to be rewarded and to keep your elbows soft and smooth longer, avoid leaning on them in your everyday life. Although it is difficult, the thought for the care and time you spend should stimulate you!
